Toys For Tots

What up CBE fam?! We wanted to take some time to highlight an awesome organization run by the United States Marine Corps. We recently participated in a Toys for Tots event with other exotic car owners and enthusiasts and had an awesome time giving back for such an amazing cause.
Toys for Tots was started  back in 1947 when the wife of Major Bill Hendricks, from Los Angeles, California, attempted to donate a Raggedy Anne doll for a child in need but could not find an organization that had such a program. That year, Major Bill’s wife Diane pressured him to gather a group of local Marine reservists to help coordinate and deliver 5,000 toys to local children. Now that's a seriously wicked awesome act of kindness.
Due to being such a success during its first year, the organization went national in 1948. In his civilian life, Major Bill was the public relations director at Warner Brothers Studio, which was how he was able to convinced a large number of celebrities to show their support for the cause. Fun fact; During the first year in 1948, Walt Disney designed the logo that Toys for Tots still uses to this day.
Since its first early years, Toys for Tots has been authorized as a non-profit charity foundation and has also become an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve. As of 2016, Toys for Tots has collected and distributed over 512 million toys to needy children throughout the country.

So next time you see a chance to participate in a Toys for Tots event, we highly recommend it. Think of the smiles you can bring to all those children and families who are less fortunate.
